Bud

Bud is an innovative plant care smart home system designed to simplify and enhance the way people nurture their plants. By integrating smart sensors with an easy-to-use app, Bud monitors key factors like soil moisture, light, and temperature to provide real-time insights and personalised care recommendations.

This seamless combination of technology and design helps plant owners maintain optimal growing conditions effortlessly, ensuring healthier, happier plants and fostering a deeper connection to nature right from the comfort of home.

The Process

To begin, I conducted user interviews, surveys, and extensive desk research focused on panic disorder and agoraphobia. These methods helped validate the need for my product and uncovered the reasons why people often avoid exposure therapy. For those who had attended, I gained valuable insights into what they wished could have been improved. The interviews, along with open-ended survey questions, proved especially effective for generating ideas for potential features.

After several rounds of feature brainstorming, I utilized journey maps, empathy maps, and user personas to better understand the patient’s emotional experience while using Canary’s features. This approach also helped me map out the paths users take to complete exposures both inside and outside the app, while highlighting the diverse needs of different anxiety sufferers. Gaining this perspective enabled me to refine the features thoughtfully, ultimately guiding me in creating a site map, user flows, and wireframes.

The Outcome

Working on BUD has been both challenging and incredibly rewarding. It gave me the chance to expand my skill set and showcase the knowledge I’ve gained over the past three years. This experience has been a valuable lesson that I’ll carry forward, helping me approach future projects with greater confidence and resilience. I’m proud to look back on the work I’ve created this year and be genuinely satisfied with the results.

Below, you’ll find the hi-fidelity mobile prototype for BUD, along with my research blog detailing the entire process.
